Legal Tint Limits in Arizona
- Front side windows: Must allow 33% of light in (33% VLT).
- Rear side windows & back window: No limit — any darkness allowed.
- Windshield: Non-reflective tint only above the AS-1 line.
- Front & rear side windows: Max 35% reflective.
- Windshield tint (above AS-1): Must be non-reflective.
- Red and amber tints are not allowed.
- If rear window is tinted, your car must have dual side mirrors.
- No stickers or film certification required.
Medical Exemptions
- Arizona allows exemptions for medical conditions requiring extra protection.
- Apply through the AZDOT Medical Review Program with a doctor’s note.
- Exemptions mainly apply to darker front window tint.
- Police use tint meters to test compliance.
- Violations may result in a fix-it ticket (must remove/replace tint).
- Ignoring a fix-it order can lead to fines or repeat penalties.
